The Dáil speaking rights issue has been a major topic that has dominated the conversations about the new government since its formation.

A major topic that is majorly confusing the nation, Fianna Fáil and Sinn Féin voters alike are not sure whether to be angry or not about it.

But fear not, the Irish Examiner has produced an article that will explain the whole thing to those of you without a notion as to what is going on.

David Kent and Michelle McGlynn have combined on this to create a section-by-section guide to the issue, whilst still following the short paragraph principles that news stories do, apart from in one or two sections where they mention several TDs by name.

They do not really have an introduction it is two sentences then the article begins, they make up for this with their sect

The sections are titled as questions that the reader would be asking in a normal conversation setting that cover the basic who, what, when, where and why.

In the paragraph explaining the technical groups in the Dáil they have them in bold but nothing else in this article, I think it could have used to highlight the other key players in this saga such as Michael Lowry TD or the other members of the regional independent group.

I believe the Ceann Comhaire’s roll in this debate should have been explained also, after all Verona Murphy was a member of the group.

I believe that context would have helped the readers understand the context of the situation better.

Using Lowry as the featured image does enough justice for the article I think, what does not help it is the random low camera quality video stuck in the middle where they talk about the day’s proceedings in the Dáil, could have been cut I would say.

Overall, it is an easy-to-read article, thankfully without the political jargon you expect, and gives you the answers to the questions you went there looking for in the first place. Not bad Irish Examiner, not bad at all.
