A fair and honest assessment of Gript Media.
Trust in journalism is so important in our world today. With the way the world is going it is understandable why there is a growing distrust in media on all ends of the political spectrum. A lot of my distrust lies in the growing number of heavily biased conservative platforms that are apparently reporting the news. To try and give them a fair trial I’m going to take a look at the Gript Media website.
Upon opening the website, you will be bombarded with ads encouraging you to give money to the site because they are unfiltered and unapologetic, just a note if there is a notion that your reporting might need an apology for whatever reason is it actually reporting?
Every story on there has something to do with one of the following ‘issues,’ immigration, the left and other items usually brought up include the LGBT+ community and climate change also.
To call it a news site would be categorically incorrect. It was more here is a news story written from my point of view, like how you would hear it from your controversial uncle at a family gathering.
Every piece looks like an opinion piece rather than a genuine news story aimed at informing people of the current affairs in the world today, and you don’t even have to get past the headline or the small preview of the article to know that.
There is no impartiality or even an attempt at that, as every mention of a viewpoint that is not right leaning is hidden under the term ‘the left,’ before being heavily criticised. To the naked eye it is a conservative mouthpiece trying to advertise itself as some sort of saviour to journalism
And their multimedia thumbnails look like the type you would expect from a clickbait YouTube channel, dramatic facial expressions, biased looking quotes, and graphics in very sensational font.
All this just came from a one scroll through the home page. To call Gript journalism would be an insult to the profession and to those who actually have to fight their governments to report truthfully and without consequence.
